About

Welcome! This website/blog discusses the physics, biology, and means to end humanity’s reliance on animal-based commodities. If you are new to this blog, I highly recommend the introductory post. My goals are as follows:

  • Compel with technological and efficiency reasons for moving away from animal-products
  • Inculcate intuition for why animal products are fundamentally inferior in terms of process engineering
  • Stoke the imaginations of readers to see a larger possibility space of potential foods
  • Advocate for fundamental research in order to mitigate our dependence on animal-products

I’m Karthik Sekar. I’m a trained scientist and engineer. I finished a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University and a postdoctoral position in Systems Biology at ETH Zurich. I consider animal technology to be one of the biggest problems in the world especially in proportion to the ongoing countering efforts. I seek to increase the nuance and dimensionality in the conversation about animal-based products; therefore, I write this blog and book. If of interest, here are links to my publications, code, and LinkedIn. Otherwise, I spend free time cooking, meditating, playing ultimate frisbee, listening to podcasts, watching history videos, and reading non-fiction. Thanks for reading!
